The vision ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ is the resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of its independence. The goal is to be achieved by working on digitalisation, sustainability, and inclusive growth, with panchamrit, i.e., knowledge, people, water, energy, and security, as its focal areas. The term 'developed nation' comprises responsible citizens with high moral values, a spirit of sacrifice and service to humanity, truthfulness, and a non-violent demeanour. And the nation promises every citizen financial, legal and personal security with the extension of fundamental rights. The concept of progress and development has been misunderstood by the people in contemporary times. Progress means attaining materialistic things which are earned by compromising with truthfulness, honesty and ignoring sustainable growth. People are blindly competing to exploit benefits by adopting immoral ways, targeting the needs and innocence of the poor and subjugated sections. The current study highlights the importance of the Indian value system for inclusive growth by pinpointing the loopholes in the criminal justice system, changed perspectives of the young generation with self-centeredness, and an indifferent attitude towards the elderly, the poor and women.
