Abstract

Crop diversification refers to the number of crops cultivated within a specific region. The Dandakaranya region serves as the unit of study in the present research paper. Secondary data has been utilized for this study, sourced from the Agricultural Statistics Tables for the year 2023–24, published by the Office of the Commissioner of Land Records, Chhattisgarh, Raipur. For the analysis of the Crop Diversification Index, the methodology employed by Bhatia (1965) has been adopted. To determine the level of crop diversification, the analysis includes all crops sown across areas exceeding 0.1 percent of the total cultivated land in each of the seven districts comprising the Dandakaranya region. The analysis reveals that within the Dandakaranya region, crop diversification is high in the districts of Bastar, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Dantewada, and Sukma; moderate in Kanker; and low in Bijapur.

Abstract in Hindi Language:
