Abstract

Leadership is a crucial element in determining the success or failure of organizations and societies worldwide. Its significance has captivated scholars across diverse cultures and time periods, promoting an exploration of timeless leadership principles. Ancient Indian texts, particularly the Ramayan and Mahabharat offer profound insights into leadership, demonstrating remarkable relevance to contemporary contexts. This study delves into the leadership styles of two iconic figures, Lord Ram and Lord Krishna, examining their decision-making processes, strategic thinking and interpersonal relationships. A comparative analysis with the principles outlined in the Arthashastra, an ancient Indian treatise on statecraft, economic policy, and military strategy by Kautilya (Chanakya), provides a comprehensive understanding of leadership dynamics.
